Gabriel Heinze has been linked with football away from the Santiago Bernabeu all summer as the Spanish giants look to shrink their overpopulated squad. At the official presentation of Fernando Morientes as a Marseille player, sporting director Jose Anigo confirmed that a defensive reinforcement was imminent. The French giants have now confirmed on their website that they have reached an agreement in principle with Real Madrid to sign Heinze for an undisclosed fee. The 31-year-old defender will soon arrive at the Stade Velodrome to finalize his switch upon completing a medical with the club, becoming the club's tenth signing this summer. |
