Nando, simply the best

Olympique Marseille have confirmed that they are back in negotiations with Real Madrid for the purchase of Gabriel Heinze despite earlier rumours suggesting that the French side had ended their chase for the defender.

The club’s president, Jean-Claude Dassier revealed to radio station Europe 1 that his director-general, Antoine Veytrat has flown to the Spanish capital to begin formal talks with Los Blancos. However, the supremo did admit that at present, any agreement between the two clubs is still “far away”.

L’Equipe are speculating that the former Paris Saint-Germain left-back’s wage demand is supposedly holding the deal back, with the Argentine asking for an annual salary of around €4.2 million, more than double OM’s current best paid player, Lucho Gonzalez.

Madrid have been desperate to ship out their surplus to requirements over the past few weeks but they appear to be on track now with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Alvaro Negredo involved in respective transfer negotiations while Javi Garcia was recently off-loaded to Benfica for an impressive €7 million.

Bit of a fall from grace eh... Would be a good signing for them if he can recover some of his old form.
